Passed out Merchat Navy training from T S Rajendra and joined The Shipping Corporation of India as cadet. Subsequently got promoted as Fourth Officer, Third Officer, Second Officer, Chief Officer and finally got command as Captain of a Merchat Ship after passing out Certificates of Competency examination of each Rank. Then got absorbed in Shore Job of The SCI Ltd., Government of India Enterprise as Manager at HO Mumbai. Got promoted as Sr. Manager AGM, DGM and GM. I served in different Divisions of SCI, namely Bulk Carrier and Tanker Division, Offshore and Technical Services Division, Liner and Passenger Services Division. Exemplary work of rehabilitation had been undertaken by operating more than 3500 leprosy patients in various medical camps conducted in rural areas to enable them to live with dignity without any stigma and to return to their families and earn their livelihood. No recurrence of deformity has been reported so far in past 40 years. They have been found earning working to earn their livelihood without depending on anybody.Over past 40 years reconstruction surgeries are done by me on hand and foot of leprosy patients to rehabilitate them socially and enabled them to live and work independently to earn their own livelihood. It includes male and female patients. They have been operated by going to the rural hospitals followed post- surgery physiotherapy without any surgical complications to avoid recurrence of deformity. The surgical reconstruction of hand function by tendon transfer is very delicate and complicated surgery and needs lot of surgical expertise which these patients could not have got in the best of the hospitals as such surgeries are not commonly done. All these operations have been free of cost by the team led by me.
For the first time in the literature, I have worked on some novel techniques in order to salvage cancer limb in cases of advanced bone tumour. During early 1980s, a common treatment at even at best centres was amputation of limb. However, the poor patients coming from tribal community never consented to undergo amputation surgery as a result of which very advanced stage of bone cancer used to be referred government medical college for treatment. A unique treatment was devised by me in which tumour was resected and carried to radio therapy department in a sterile container and eradicated by Cobalt called as Extra Corporal Eradication and then bone was reimplanted in the body of patients thus avoiding amputation. This work was well appreciated and published in Medical Journals.
Recently a new technique of preserving of hip joint for Avascular Necrosis of Femoral Head post Covid has been designed by me and more than 300 patients have operated and benefitted in last three and half years.

Born in Bihar who after 12th joined the IAF as an Airman, continued his studies, did his graduation, cleared CDS and became an Officer in the Army.
Of the many duties in the Army, was also his intense counter-terrorism battles in Kashmir, that also earned him ‘Sena Medal’ gallantry for killing six terrorists and a gunshot wound too when a bullet tore through his face, jaw & neck. His being alive is a miracle.
In his new life he began to express himself through his pen and voice, stories of the courage and sacrifice through poems, documentaries, live talks and light and sound shows. He also gives live commentaries at various solemn occasions and also on Doordarshan that include Army Day Parades and the inauguration of the National War Memorial.

When the country went into CORONA lockdown he voluntarily joined one of the biggest COVID Hospitals in the country.
He also featured in many COVID awareness videos that was liked by many including the Govt. His awareness video on 'safe banking' brought out by ICICI Bank too was a success.
In his appearance on Zee TV's Swarn Swar Bharat he displayed his exceptional poetic skills that went viral.

Lt Gen VG Khandare was the Principal Adviser at the Ministry of Defence since Mar 2022 til 16 May 25. He was the Military Adviser at NSCS for three years till 12 Oct 2021. He was Director General Defence Intelligence Agency and Deputy Chief of Integrated Defense Staff handling tri services Intelligence, till 31 Jan 2018.
He has been in the Govt going through the terrorist attacks at Pathankot, Uri, Nagrota, Sanjuwan , Pulwama and Pahalgam and the response of hard hitting surgical strikes on the West and the East, Balakote air strike and the classic Op Sindoor.
He served the nation as an Army officer for nearly four decades. He has a vast experience in handling military affairs and has been involved in advising the apex level on decision making based on analysis and assessments impacting national interests. As a Security expert he continues to serve by finding solutions to existing and anticipated future problems .
He has first hand experience on Northern Siachen Glacier in 1988, these were the initial years which saw intense fights between India and Pak to gain control over the icy height while logistics were a huge challenge. He was actively involved in countering terrorism in the hinterland of J&K and in North East India.
