Major General Prof Dr S S Dasaka served for 35 years in the Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army. He served mostly in the North-East and J & K. He held a wide range of challenging assignments covering Troops, Technical and Operational Logistics areas. As a Captain and a Major, he taught at the College of Military Engineering, Pune. As a Brigadier, he was Head of the Faculty of Information Systems and also Head of the Faculty of Strategic Studies, Research & Consultancy at the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad. He also served at the Army Training Command, Shimla - the Think Tank of the Indian Army. He served in Public Sector, DRDO and Private Sector organizations too. He retired as a Major General in an Additional Director General’s rank.
Post-retirement in 2011, Dr. S.S. Dasaka had varied experience in the academic field, having been the Director of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Gangtok; Vice Chancellor of Baddi University of Emerging Sciences & Technology, Baddi, H.P; Vice-Chancellor of Indus University, Ahmedabad; Chief Executive Officer, Vignana Jyothi Group of Educational Institutions, Hyderabad and Chief Executive Officer of J. B. Group of Educational Institutions, Hyderabad.
General Dasaka had a distinguished academic record. He holds B.E. (Civil Engineering) from Andhra University, M.E. (Structural Engineering) from University of Roorkee (now IIT), M.E. (Engineering Construction & Management) from Pune University and M.M.S i.e. Master of Management Studies and Ph.D. in Business Management both from Osmania University. He also holds M.Sc. in Defence Studies, M.Phil. in Defence and Strategic Studies, P.G. Diploma in Project Management, Junior Diploma in Russian Language and Literature and Diploma in Senior Level Defence Management from different universities.
General Dasaka was Honoured by H.E the President of India, twice - first in 2007 with a Sena Medal i.e. S.M, for his outstanding leadership qualities as Chief Engineer of Project Beacon of Border Roads Organization, while working in J & K. He was later awarded Vishisht Seva Medal i.e. V.S.M in 2012, for his distinguished services as Major General Operational Logistics at Headquarters Eastern Command, Kolkata. He was awarded Commendation Cards by the Army Commanders of Eastern and Western Commands. He received U.G.K Rao Memorial Prize for securing University First Rank among all branches of engineering in the final year B.E examination of Andhra university in 1974 and Competition Success Review and Global HRDC Award for two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013 as Director of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Gangtok for being one of the leading directors of top engineering colleges of India. He has a few more awards to his credit.
You will be glad to know that as a Colonel in 1999, he and another officer, Captain D.K. Tyagi, diffused or made inactive a 12 Kgs. Improvised Explosive Device (IED) or a time bomb with bare-hands, risking their lives, so as to save a major railway bridge on Ambala - Delhi line from being blown off by the militants.
General Dasaka is an Engineer - Soldier- Management Professional and Academician, all combined into one. He has been speaking to students across India on a variety of topics.

V.PURUSHOTHAM RAO – PROFILE • Joined the CRPF in the rank of Dy. Superintendent of Police (Now called Assistant Commandant) in 1971 and served various parts of the country like Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Assam, Arunachal, West Bengal, and also the other states. Various activities like the anti-terrorist, maintaining law & order, assistance in natural calamities etc. were all in my work sphere. • I raised and trained two Battalions of CRPF. I was the founder member of the NSG commonly known as Black Cat Commandos in 1985 when the force was raised. I raised and trained the VIP security squadron in Delhi and participated in number of operations. • After working as officer in-charge of the Control Room of the Home Ministry I was sent on deputation to the Information and Broadcasting ministry as Dy. Director General (Security) to cover Both AIR and Doordarshan from 1992 to 1997. • From 1999 to 2004 I worked as Assistant Director and Officer on Special Duty (OSD). • I took voluntary retirement in 2005 as Principal of CRPF training school in Humana, Srinagar, J&K. • Now I am trying to talk to the youth of the Nation to connect them to their roots and be proud of being an Indian, through many means like the electronic media and also by going to the schools and colleges and open sessions wherever possible.

Retired Colonel from the Indian army, served in the frozen frontiers for 6 years. Participated in the Kargil conflict and is twice battle wounded.
