Dr. S. Ram Mohan, IRAS, through the IAS examination in 1973. He retired as the Additional Member Finance in the Railway Board of the rank of Special Secretary to Government of India. Earlier, he was the Special Secretary, Govt. of India. Presently, he is the editor of ‘Ramanodayam’ and Co-Editor of ‘Mountain Path’. Also, he is the Co-Director of Sarasvati Research Centre, Chennai and Director of Centre for Study in Religion and Society.
He is a multi-faceted personality with six Post Graduate degrees to his credit covering various subjects like Sanskrit, Tamil and Economics and Strategic Studies, Spanish,Philosphy and an MBA, degrees in Mathematics and Law. He is also a Ph.D. in Defence and Strategic Studies. He was awarded 'Best Performance' medal in the L.B.S. National Academy of Administration, Mussorrie,.the institution for Training of Officers selected through I.A.S. etc. Exam. He has been trained in Advanced Computer Systems in USA and Sweden.
In the year 2003, he was chosen for the prestigious award of Fellowship of Computer Society of India,He has also won International Honour when he was awarded the 'PRACHYA VIDYA PARANGATA' (Expert in Eastern Wisdom) Award at Houston University USA by the WAVES organisation - an organisation of distinguished Academicians and Intellectuals from several countries. And Saraswathi Puraskar from Itihas Samiti in 2012.
He has also been an eminent speaker on various subjects in various forums. He was invited by the Government of Sri Lanka to speak at the International Conference on Buddhism.. He had invited to speak in many Universities abroad like Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia,Trindad,U.S.A., etc. He was also the speaker chosen by the Government of India to represent India in the WAVES conference on the ‘Intellectual Traditions of the world’ at Washington. He was invited at the World Congress of Religions.
He is the editor of two cultural and philosophical journals in English 'The Mountain Path' and in Tamil 'Ramanodayam' brought out by Sri Ramanasramam.. He is contributor to the 100 volume Encyclopedia brought out by the Organisation under Ministry of Human Resurce Developpment,Govt of India, in the area of Indian Philosophy especially 'Saiva Siddhanta' and 'Synthesis of Yoga'. solution for rural areas, solar based interventions and micropropagation of medicinal plants.
He was part of the Asian PGPR Society team drafted the Policy Paper on Regulation of Plant
Growth Promoting Microorganisms submitted to ICAR during 2021.
Currently, he is mentoring individuals in science, technology and rural development programmes
helping farmers and rural youth for better livelihoods through organic / regenerative agricultural practices
and concentrating more on promoting and establishing collaborations in natural resource management,
microbial technology, ecological regenerative agriculture, sustainable food system, entrepreneurship for
development of interventions aimed towards rural areas.
